Hi! My name is Tamara Johnson and I am a mother of three wonderful boys. I also have a small business, The Kindness Crate, love to volunteer, have a wonderful husband, and am an avid runner and a marathoner. Like most parents, my husband and I are busy. Really busy. Even though we are busy, and sometimes (ok - most of the time) overwhelmed, I think constantly about how to build empathy in my boys. I am a domestic violence survivor and this serves to only heighten my passion and desire to raise kind kids.
Skills such as showing gratitude, standing up for others, and respecting other cultures and ways of life are values we have in our family. I’m constantly trying new ways of instilling these values, researching and reading the experts in this field, and devouring as many books as I can fit in to my life to inspire me.
But, this is hard work. I spend a lot of time thinking about this and I want to not only share what I’m doing with my kids, but learn from others what they are doing. I want to build a community because on those days when we feel down, the community can lift us up.
